Valerie Pigott
I paint, write or draw every day. It is
completely necessary, much like brushing my teeth. The work is a document to
survival. I record each month and each season as if it were the last I might
see. I love paying attention to beloved objects. They seem to possess an inner
vibration, yet, they don't preach. The paintings are closed and comfortable,
veering toward comedy, not tragedy.
The gardenscape paintings capture an essence or
energy that I admire. The still life paintings refer to containment and
restraint. Each work demands a different medium, acrylic, oil and pastel
according to what the moment tells me. I hope the work is about listening. The
physical experience of painting is sensual, however it is the mental process
that truly pursues me.
