Steve Coffey
Steve Coffey's work is elemental, with a focus on nature and
the forces with which humanity has to contend. He searches for a distinctive
atmosphere from the immensity and grandeur of the plains to the human mark
etched upon it. With both a plaintive and expressive palette of light and
movement Steve draws from his past, a process he calls 'Memory Polaroids' and
from the present day of all that surrounds him.
Steve's medium is oil on canvas and collage.
Steve Coffey paintings can be found in many private, public
and corporate collections throughout North America and Europe.
Steve Coffey was born in Portage la Prairie, Manitoba. He
received much of his art training on the prairies finishing in 1990 with a
Masters degree of Fine Arts from the University of Regina. He now lives with
his family somewhere on the landscape of Southern Alberta.
Steve is also a well-known Western Canadian Singer Songwriter who has released a number of recordings over the years to critical acclaim. Steve and his band 'The Lokels' perform regularly and can be heard on a variety of radio airwaves from commercial to college and anything inbetween.
